So what is Above Average America? That's a good question. I should know, because I'm the one who asked it. Above Average America, in its current state, is essentially an essay repository plus a news blog. The subjects covered will usually fall under finance, politics, or culture, but I might throw something else in every now and then. There are a few extras such as the essential reading list and the Lexicon, but that's about it.

This website originally began as a half-baked idea in February, 2009. It was supposed to be maintained and improved upon by college-aged people with very little work ethic (you can see where this is going). But the original concept crashed and burned fairly quickly. The legacy of that idea are a few essays (some did not survive The Great Purge) and the domain name. But if you're interested in writing for this website, send me an email, and I'll contact you.

The site's renascence owed largely to the fact that I had some time on my hands due to my light schedule this semester. Check back frequently; there should be daily updates for the news blog and (hopefully) weekly updates for the short essays.

As a final note, I designed this website completely in Notepad and it implements HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and a little JavaScript.
